Custom Interior Doors in Albuquerque

If you’re renovating your home, you might not have given much thought to your interior doors. While this overlooked feature of the home is viewed as primarily functional, interior doors can also greatly improve the look and feel of your home when you make the right design choices.

Here at Narrow Leaf Woodworks, we create a wide range of custom wood products, from  beautiful gates and fencing to rustic furniture perfect for the outdoors. We also design custom interior doors for Albuquerque homeowners, which offer both form and function to a property.

Types of Door Construction

You’re probably already familiar with the two most common door styles found in many homes. Panel doors feature a frame composed of horizontal and vertical pieces, called rails and stiles. The center of the door features wood panels, which can be flat or raised depending on your taste. Conversely, flush doors feature a much simpler design. These doors are flat and mostly uniform, and as a result they lack the more detailed construction of panel doors.

You also have numerous options when it comes to how interior doors function, including the following:

  • Folding Doors – Some spaces are tighter than others, which makes opening a door a bit awkward and unwieldy. In this case, folding doors are the perfect solution. Two doors are attached to opposite sides of the frame via hinges, which slide open in either direction to provide access. This is a common configuration for closet doors.
  • Barn Doors – Sliding barn doors are also ideal for smaller homes with less space to work with. Sliding doors are attached to a track, which allows seamlessly opening and closing. Pocket doors are a similar option, except the door slides into an inner pocket with a split side jamb.
  • Hinged Doors – Hinged doors are the most traditional option. In fact, you probably already have this configuration in your home. Hinged doors often utilize panel construction and hinges can be attached to either the left or right side of the frame.
